Jane Austen Inspired Regency Garden Party

Step into the world of Jane Austen for an afternoon of Regency charm, country house traditions and genteel amusement at Middlethorpe Hall.

Friday, 25th September | 1.00pm – 4.00pm

Guests will be welcomed with a Pimm’s cocktail accompanied by music from Alec Robinson, before taking a leisurely promenade through the Hall’s celebrated gardens with our Head Gardener, Andrew Leighton. Discover the beauty and traditions of the English country house garden, and imagine how gardens such as these provided the perfect setting for the walks, conversations and social encounters so often brought to life in Jane Austen’s novels.

The afternoon continues with a Regency talk by Lottie, founder of Dance the Past, who brings the dances, customs and social traditions of Jane Austen’s era to life.

Guests will then have the opportunity to take part in a Regency dance workshop, learning the dances that would have formed part of an evening’s entertainment during Austen’s time.

Following the dance workshop Afternoon Tea will be served, accompanied by Regency-inspired music performed by Alec Robinson.

Guests are warmly encouraged to dress for the occasion, taking inspiration from Jane Austen and the Regency period. Whether choosing full Regency attire or simply adding a nod to the fashions of the era, come prepared to embrace the spirit of the afternoon.
