The forth annual York Georgian Festival will fill the city with the sights and sounds of 18th Century life this summer, between Thursday 6th to Monday 10th August.
Hosted by York Mansion House in partnership with attractions across the city, the programme ranges from free displays of dancing and military drills in St Helen's Square to the splendour of York Georgian Ball, and includes talks, tours, performances and workshops at a variety of venues.
On Saturday 8th August the York Georgian Masquerade Ball will be held at the Grand Assembly Rooms. Expect fine food and drink, with a welcome from York Gin, live music from Eboracum Baroque, and much dancing, merriment and mysterious disguise.
There are talks and tours by Terry Deary, author of Horrible Histories, Georgian fashion at Fairfax House and York Castle Museum, and delight in the royal intrigue of Blackmail and Scandal at the Heart of the Court, in two talks at York Mansion House.
