Historic House Hotels are delighted to announce the appointment of Lionel Chatard as General Manager of Middlethorpe Hall in York as from the beginning of March 2004.
Lionel is French and comes from Lyons. As a true Frenchman, he has always been interested in fine food and wine and he started on the Management side at the Carlton Inter-Continental in Cannes in 1997 He graduated from there to Claridge's in London where he was 'Chef de Brigade'. In September 1999 he was appointed the youngest Hotel Manager in London at the historic Cadogan Hotel. When the hotel was sold to the Hotel Lancaster at the end of last year, the founder and owner of Historic House Hotels, Mr Richard Broyd, asked Lionel to rejoin the Group as General Manager of Middlethorpe Hall.
Middlethorpe Hall Hotel and Spa is one of three hotels in the Group whose motto is: Past, Present and Future Perfect.
Historic House Hotels are all based in houses of major historical importance and have been transformed over the years to provide fabulously comfortable bedrooms, superb English cooking and all the delights of the Spa with beauty treatment, gymnasia and swimming pools.
Middlethorpe Hall and Spa is situated in the historic City of York and is surrounded by 20 acres of award-winning gardens with wonderful flowers, rare trees and a ha-ha.
It is situated next to the famous York Racecourse which is particularly significant because next year the Royal Ascot race meeting will be taking place in York. Lionel Chatard, one of the youngest and most dynamic Hotel Managers in the British Isles today, will be there to welcome them.
