Historic House Hotels understands that every customer has different needs, and we aim to make our hotel facilities available and accessible to all of our guests equally. In rare instances where this is not possible, we will endeavor to offer a suitable alternative.
We offer a range of facilities for guests with a perspective on disability, including fully accessible bedrooms, bathrooms and lavatories, accessible entrances, access ramps, designated or assisted car parking, flashing fire alarms and assistance dogs are welcome.
Please advise us if you are affected by any medical condition, disability, impairment or specific learning difficulty. As Middlethorpe Hall is a Grade 1 listed building, there is limited lift access which is not suitable for a wheelchair user. Arrivals may drive to the front door of the hotel. We offer a valet parking service to all arrivals.
Entrance to the hotel is by way of three steps. For wheelchair users, a temporary Ramp can be placed at the side entrance to the right of the main hotel front entrance to enable ease of access.
You can request for your luggage to be collected from your car on arrival and delivered to your room.
You will be escorted to your room and shown the layout of the public areas enroute.
The Reception, Drawing Room, Library, Oak Dining Room and Pineapple Dining Room, and Yellow Dining Room are on ground level in the main house with no steps. The Grill Room is located on the lower ground floor by stair access. There is limited access by lift, but not suitable for a wheelchair.
There are no public lavatories that are fully accessible on the ground floor of the main Hall.
The Barlow Room is located adjacent to the main house, approached from the driveway and fully accessible.
One Courtyard Suite is fully accessible and has ground floor bedroom, sitting room and bathroom, which is equipped with bath and toilet suitable for wheelchair users with grab handles for assistance. There are other courtyard and cottage suites with ground floor access. There are no ground floor bedrooms in the main house.
Guide dogs (only) are welcome in the main house.
The Middlethorpe Spa is located opposite the Courtyard and the leisure facilities are on the ground floor. Treatment rooms are on the first floor accessed by staircase only. The Spa is not accessible for a wheelchair user.
Guests with Hearing Difficulties
The fire alarm systems throughout the property give audible warnings. Guests with hearing difficulties need to advise Reception on arrival so that the hotel, in the case of fire, are aware and can provide assistance.
Please let us know in advance if you have any special dietary needs, and our Chef will be pleased to offer dishes to meet your requirements. Whilst we will do our best to cater for our guests’ specific requirements, we cannot guarantee that conformity will be 100% or accept responsibilities for any unintended deficiency or resultant reaction or illness, unless caused by our negligence.
